Welcome to my blog, I am Alyssa and I am a student in Bettendorf, Iowa. We Hopewell students believe in a Culture of Reader’s, which is a community of people who share a passion for reading. I believe that you are never too old to pick up a book, and when you do select a book, it can change your perspective on the world. A Culture of Reader’s helps others develop different ways to envision life. We are all part of a Culture of Readers program, and we help others learn to admire and understand reading. The Culture of Reader’s helps promote authors and books. I started my reading journey when I was little. I have always loved to read because it helps me gain different viewpoints on others, and have insight on what others have to deal with. Some of my favorite book series are Harry Potter and Genius Files. I learned to love historical fiction books when we read A Night Divided by Jenifer A. Nielsen, in 5th grade. These books have helped me learn all about different things that have happened all over the world, and all the different struggles that people go through. I’ve learned that others go through harder challenges than what I have gone through and this makes me realize that it is important to stand in other people’s shoes to help understand their perspectives. I want other students to read my blog so they can find their next great read and hopefully be able to realize the challenges that others go through and learn from characters how to overcome their fears and obstacles in their life.
